Sunday, Oct. 15th 2pm

We had an adventure filled and intense 32 hour drive from Portland to Santa Fe, but we have arrived safe and sound. Before we even left Oregon, our engine light went on and we stopped in La Grande for help. The mechanic told us it was a tranny problem, and as he walked us back to the car, noticed our tires. They were mismatched back to front due to a flat we had a couple of weeks back. Apparently if you drive a Jeep or a Subaru, this is fatal to your transmission because of the all-wheel drive. So we took his advice and got brand new tires in Boise. It set us back a few hours and a few pesos, but we feel better and so does Luna with her new shoes! Alas, they are not red and sequined. A few miles down the road, that pesky engine light (a.k.a. panic light) went off at last. The only other adventures were in the dark hours before morning in the mountain passes in Colorado. Fog and freezing weather were a stress, but once again Luna took us steadily onward. Love and light to the accident we passed. May you have safety and health.

With an exhalation of breath, we made it to see dawn break in it's usual glorious fashion over the still glittering, lit city of Denver.

Exhausted and grateful, we arrived at Liza's apartment (above). Liza is off bathing elephants in Bangkok or somewhere so she is letting us stay in her apartment for a couple of days. It was weird to not be moving. We will also be staying in Carol's guest house in Madrid which is just a little bit outside of Santa Fe. We have truly generous and wonderful friends!
